About Capacity

Hard disk and flash memory manufacturers use decimal arithmetic to calculate capacity: 1MB = 1000KB, 1GB = 1000MB.

However, operating systems use binary arithmetic: 1MB = 1024KB, 1GB = 1024MB.

Therefore, there is a difference between the displayed capacity and the nominal capacity of the product. This is allowed by industry standards.

Actual capacity calculation:

Total capacity × 0.93

Examples: • 8GB ≈ 7.5GB • 16GB ≈ 14GB • 32GB ≈ 29GB • 64GB ≈ 57GB • 120GB ≈ 111GB • 128GB ≈ 119GB • 256GB ≈ 238GB • 480GB ≈ 447GB • 500GB ≈ 465GB • 512GB ≈ 476GB • 1TB ≈ 930GB • 2TB ≈ 1862GB • 3TB ≈ 2793GB • 4TB ≈ 3724GB
